I'd guess at least the hybrid version will have the same size tank as the LC. Maybe the non-hybrid will have a larger tank?
Hybrid plus a 21-23 gallon tank would be nice but between the battery and the spare, probably not.
I've been compiling an expanded version of this comparison table for my own decision purposes. A couple recent points:
In this video a Toyota engineer at a SEMA measuring event says the Lexus GX and LC are designed to fit 33" tires stock and in general to avoid needing body mount chops...
Probably a difference in Jeep vs. Toyota full time 4WD? My FJ has full time 4WD, center and rear locking diffs, and various drive modes. Off road I shut off traction control and the brakes don't interfere with what I'm doing. In both the situations you mention I'd just have everything locked...
We're on our second turbo hybrid car now, and with that setup it's pretty easy to eliminate any turbo lag.
Anyone know if the steering in the new 4Runner will by electronic like the LC? The lack of steering feedback in LC off road driving seems to be a recurring theme.
Two more videos...
This is one thing I haven't sorted out from what's been posted. The full time 4WD LC has both center and read locking diffs. I assumed the full time 4WD 4Runners would too, and I still suspect that's the case, but when I read the press materials released so far it only says they will have a...
Agree -- I can't find the 8" number anywhere, just 8.7". Does anyone have a better source for ground clearance vs. trim level for either LC or 4Runner? I'd suspect it's a bit higher on the offroad 4Runner trims than the non-offroad trims.
As far as I can tell this is the case. The off-road trims don’t get a locking center diff either if I’m reading the press release right. That’s too bad — having driven a Jeep, Subaru, and two FJs with constant power to all four wheels, I won’t buy a vehicle without that. Especially for the...
I’m hoping one of the off road focused models will have full time 4WD with the rear and center locking diffs. But maybe that’s just me. I don’t want to give that up when I trade in my FJ.
I think it's pretty funny that the new Land Cruiser and new 4Runner are being showed off in the same color as my 10 year old FJ! I kind of feel like I have to choose that color now. (I wanted the 2014 TT Edition and it only came in that color.)
Edited to add: this color does not photograph...
The vehicle seen in camouflage looks pretty similar to the Tacoma. With the FJ or whatever they call the mini Land Cruiser on the way, I’m thinking they’ll give the 4Runner a modern look and go retro (similar to the base Land Cruiser) with the FJ.
