WRONG!!!!!!! You pay the sales tax in the state you are going to register the vehicle in regardless of where you purchase it. You DO NOT pay the sales tax in the state you purchase from if it is not your home registration state.
Changing the shocks isn't really necessary if only 5% of your use is Forest Service type roads. There's no need with that limited amount of off-roading to be driving like you stole it, which is really what off-road shocks are designed for - to minimize foaming and/or heat failure of the shock...
Even the TRD Off Road Premium has hard plastic up at the window, per TRD Jon's video of his new 4Runner. The Limited and Platinum do have soft touch up at the window, however.
Locking center differential means you can lock front and rear axles engaged so you have traction to all 4 tires.
Limited and Platinum will handle mild off-road just fine, as they have over 8" of ground clearance. The front air dam is the lowest point, and is easily unbolted. The tires don't...
To get a couple minor options we want, we had to go with the + trim in the GX at $82k. That gives us a whole bunch of extra stuff we didn't need. The options we want in the 4Runner are available at $66k. One particular feature we want isn't available in ANY trim of the LC.
If you don't like the black wheels, get the Limited. We don't like all the silver trim & wheels on the Limited. We are getting the Platinum because of the black trim. I personally do not like black/silver trimmed wheels, either.
Apparently, many folks like the look of all black trim &...
To piggy back, this is a good video inside the Tahara plant showing the assembly line. This was the first 2024 Lexus GX 550 going down the line, and there are portions where you can see other vehicles, including the outgoing 2024 4Runner. The 2025 4Runner will be assembled the same way...
Really?! The Bronco rollout was a 3+ year fiasco with healthy MSRP's AND massive ADM's all over the country. Bronco inventory didn't finally start piling up until mid 2024, and there are still plenty of dealers that don't really want to negotiate much on them. And Wranglers have pretty big...
If you haven't seen the Heritage Blue in person, it looks a LOT different than 95% of the online photos. Much better in person, not too light, like so many online photos seem to depict. Kind of seems to have just a touch of a grey-ish hue to the blue. It's a good looking color on the new Land...
Yes, the melt certainly looks like a heat gun incident, however, it has shown up on quite a few GX's on the black plastic trim.
For those of you considering the GX, spend a little time on the lexusgxforum
You'll at least want to know ahead of time what issues the GX owners have been dealing...
Two big reasons - we don't like the look of the non-Overtrails, and, you have to get the + models to even get passenger front Lumbar control - that is a HUGE miss. EVERY Lexus should have, at a minimum, front passenger lumbar adjustments. We were real jazzed about the + models massaging...
For over 6 months, the wife & I had multiple deposits on GX550 Overtrail +, Earth/Black exterior with Chateau interior. A BEAUTIFUL rig. As we were waiting, and in no hurry, hoping Toyota/Lexus would get any initial bugs worked out, I spent a lot of time looking at the GX, and researching...
Gen 5 Limited was basically a street machine, that could handle light off-roading. The Gen 6 Limited and Platinum trims are also basically street machines. The Gen 6 offers 4 off-road oriented models, with 3 of them offering upgraded appointments/options. Doesn't really make much sense for...
