I made another cut of this in a "360 video" mode. For those that haven't seen these kinds of "360 videos", click on the screen and drag around the view to change perspective -- e.g., to follow a vehicle or to look around.
I don't think its just Westcott. One thing I'd like to see all companies do more of is post installation videos. It's helpful to have instructions and diagrams on paper to decipher, but I'm a lot more likely to buy a product if I get to watch someone else install it first. I know this gets...
That was just the rubber hitch plug. I retrieved it and left it off for the rest of that ride.
I had a little scraping on the hitch and the front bumper, but nothing too bad. The weather was warm yesterday so I wire brushed the hitch and the part of my front bumper that scraped and touched...
The post on the front is for mounting a camera. It extends so it's higher the the vehicle and I mount an insta360 on it. I record a lot of rides that way so I can watch them later... Sped up and edited.
I don't think most people do it themselves to save money. For me, it's more that I get to inspect everything and have the peace of mind that it was done right. After you have a shop screw up this simple procedure enough times you start to think it's worth doing it yourself. I've also noticed...
No significant damage (that I am aware of). I had some scraping on my front bumper (including the shackle tabs and my winch hook) and my rear bumper (dragging the hitch pretty hard at one point). Surprisingly, I don't remember scraping my skid plates much. Maybe just a couple times, but no hard...
I've got some of these on order for my non-hybrid ORP (20 degrees with no top tread) -- recommended by a local shop that said they've installed these on some other 4Runners. I already noticed I would have to use rivnuts on the non-threaded frame holes where it looks like they will mount. But I'm...
I might have missed it in the four pages of comments, but there are functional reasons to swap wheels, not just aesthetics. FWIW, I didn’t pay much attention to how my stock ORP wheels looked. Reading all these comments made me think about it more, though.
For me, the short story is I was...
I’ve been recording my off-road rides in my Jeep with an Insta360, and I’m planning to take my 4Runner out more for snow wheeling this season. The Jeep has a lot of easy camera mounting options, but the 4Runner is a bit trickier, especially for 360 cameras.
For anyone considering an Insta360...
I’m still on the factory TRD Off-Road front coils with a ReadyLIFT 2.5" SST spacer kit. That kit uses front strut and preload spacers plus a rear spring spacer, so the front spring rate is still stock.
The bumper is about 76 pounds and the winch with synthetic rope and fairlead is roughly 75...
I had an RCI Pike front bumper and a Warn Zeon 10 winch installed yesterday. My main goal was to add solid recovery points and a suitable mount for a winch, and the shop that handled the work, Bullhide 4x4 in Fort Collins, recommended this setup.
The only issue after the installation was a...
I have a ReadyLIFT 2.5” SST Lift Kit and Method 703 17X8.5 6X5.5 +35 wheels. These were installed by a shop, but AFAIK they didn't cut anything. I haven't noticed any rubbing so far.
I have a non-hybrid ORP with the same 8-speed auto as your SR5. I'm running 285/75R17 tires and I have not noticed any shifting issues. I also have not felt noticeable changes in acceleration, although I realize there is probably a marginal performance decrease due to the larger tire diameter...
