It seems, at least, that the bigger screen upgrade won't be all that difficult to do. Whether it will still be relatively straightforward on a SR5 sans JBL sound system, dunno yet. Cluster upgrade probably rather involved though.
Personally I think the Canadian SR5 is a good starting point for...
Judging from dyno reports, you're probably better off gaining power/tq by filling up with premium gas instead. "Performance" exhaust by itself, on just about any vehicle, would be hella lucky to get even half of the ~10-20hp gains the 6th gen gets from premium gas.
I just replied to another thread a few days ago that expressed a similar idea about LT sizes.
- I don't think the numerical ply "rating" has been literal for a long time. Going up in load range does confer some level of load capacity, likely thickness of material, and therefore durability, but...
Reason why I ask is cause the 6th gen speedometer seems to be off (fast) even for people with a 265/70R18 stock size. So I wonder if SR5s are just even more egregiously inaccurate from the factory and putting 255/75R17 on pretty much dials it in properly, thus possibly making your MPG...
Sweet ride. Did you compare actual speed diff with GPS, or just factor in the theoretical size difference from 245/70R17 in your calculations?
It's been a while since I saw 255/75R17 mentioned, last time was on another midsize truck forum where it was a somewhat safer bet for clearance than...
I wish the Taco and 4R new air dam didn't look so god awful and didn't have such gaping holes for the tow hooks. Then it would be easier to trim the air dam down in size but keep it on, like can be done for some other trucks. Doing that here just splits the air dam into 3 useless pieces with 2...
MSRP means Toyota website numbers, so unless $53639 corresponds exactly to what Toyota website says final MSRP is, I don't put much stock in what dealerships say as they tend to just invent whatever numbers they want as "MSRP".
Those fees down below are included in Toyota.ca's MSRP price...
I loved the ride quality of the full 2.0 kit for my old Canyon, was simultaneously plush but very well controlled and handled tight. Wish I could have stretched the budget to 2.5s. Was a real pain to install though on my own
imo you should be fine. Rear shocks was a super quick mod and...
Unless it's way oversprung from the factory, shocks alone should make a difference but from what you're saying it doesn't sound like they would be anywhere near the difference you want.
Can't speak for the Tundra but for like 15 years now GM trucks are just soft. Doesn't mean the suspension's...
I'm aware of that. I was not looking to compare pricing directly, just curious in terms of what province, since there are general trends between them on insurance pricing. We don't have choices as to insurance here, but there are discounts for things like automatic emergency braking (part of TSS).
Damn, learn something new every day. Thanks for the info.
Finally found where the lower-trims-no-acoustic-glass comes from, right from the website:
I assume all the hybrids have it, and SR5/Sport/(possibly OR?) do not. Though really, with the 4Runner's front glass being much more sloped...
Does that mean laminated in the same way as the acoustic glass on the doors though, or as a synonym for tempered glass like some automakers seem to do
I mean, what you suggest certainly makes sense, but one cannot be too sure in this era of costcutting
From the early media coverage people were saying that the SR5 has acoustic glass around (unlike LC, which is just embarrassing), but that the higher trims would have acoustic glass on the windshield which the SR5 supposedly doesn't have. Don't know how true any of that is, never heard anything...
Congrats! Are you getting noticeable turbo whistle from inside the vehicle in daily normal driving?
I have the same thoughts about the screen size. No bezel would look better but I think I'd also appreciate it as something meaty to grab onto sometimes while working the screen. It seems like...
May as well just go for the Limited since it sounds like what the ORP offers doesn't actually entice you that much. I think the Limited might get the worst MPGs of all trims though, since the always locked front hubs are gonna sag efficiency a bit, and it is a bit of a fatso for a gas trim
And...
I came from Ford so it was a pretty simple affair just buying a Forscan dongle, hooking up my laptop and changing a setting for tire size. It was the same kind of cheap ELM327 dongle as people have been using with Carista. Amazed that other manufacturers or software vendors haven't thought to do...
