This is most likely, more related to driver skill (or lack thereof), than the vehicle itself.

Owning both a JLU and a 5G, I'll say they are different tools for different purposes. I made the mistake of trying to make my Trail edition perform like a Jeep on the technical off-roading and I made the mistake of trying to turn my Jeep into an overlander. And I'm not at all saying neither can be done, it's the relative investment that it takes for each.

and if you're puzzled about why I did what I did, it's just because you're paying attention.

I have a Gladiator, which was originally paired with a 5th gen 4Runner. The 4Runner was used for longer highway trips. We traded the 4Runner away for a Toyota Crown last year, and are now waiting for the 6th gen to arrive in volume. We plan to trade the Crown and keep the Jeep, which is built up. I've previously owned three 4Runners and a Toyota Trekker (preceded the 4Runner), plus 14 other Toy 4x4s.
