I've been trying to figure out a way to comfortably sleep in the back of my 4Runner. As we all know the way the seats fold doesn't leave a long enough area to stretch out. You can remove the rear seats and make something work that way but I want to be able to switch back as easily as possible.
I began investigating options and stumbled on to the Half Pack Rack from Nokhu gear. Basically like a cot frame that you can stick in the back of a truck to go over the wheel wells. I took some measurements and decided to gamble on one of these being able to fit over the seats when they are simply laid down not folded up. Turns out it fits like a glove. Even the angled corner works to allow the drivers seat to stay in it's normal position.
I will need to figure out how to extend the front legs to hit the floor so the weight isn't just on the seats but that's a simple enough fix. This platform is 72"x30" with legs that extend from 10" up to 15". They have a shorter and narrower version which might work better in the 4Runner but my mattress is 72"x30".
They have 30% off sale going right now https://nokhugear.com/products/pack-rack-single-1
