Picked up our 6th Gen TRD Off Road Premium on 2/28 within hours of it coming off the truck!

Some of you may laugh, but I specifically requested it not be washed or detailed by the dealer to preserve the paint as much as possible. The dealer probably thought I was a little crazy.. but if you’re a detail nut like me I know you get it!

After a proper foam cannon, hand wash, & chemical decontamination, she received a full graphene ceramic coating to lock in that shine for years to come!

More pictures to come after the ceramic fully cures over the next week.

What do y'all think?

Your 4Runner is gleaming man. I'm a fan of ceramic coating and plan to do that to mine first thing too after delivery. I'm also going to tell my dealer not to wash mine, so you're not the only crazy one!

Which graphene ceramic coating did you go with? How long did the application take you?

I'm also considering possibly PPF on high wear & tear areas, like the hood.

Appreciate it! Agreed. Glad I’m not the only crazy one haha. Just lessons learned from previous new cars where the dealers detail team did more harm than good by touching it.

I ceramic’d my first car about 1.5 years ago with Adam’s Graphene Advanced. It’s held up great. The success is really all in the prep as they say.

After prep (3.5 hours), the coating took about 4 hours in total. I covered nearly every inch of the exterior though.

I will do the same. My dealership runs them up to the local car wash and then brings them back for touchup. My cars never go through a car wash. Those things destroy the paint. Adam’s products are the bomb. I buy their products by the gallon. Use their Graphene boost to keep the coating looking good.

This is good info. One of the first things I noticed when I picked up my 4R was all the micro scratches the dealership put in my paint job by washing it. So asking them not to wash it is something I wish I did.

I did refuse their $400 inferior Eco-Coat so I can put a proper ceramic coating on it. I will be looking into the Adam's product after getting my windows tinted in a couple days. Thanks for the info.

Glad this helped!

Their intent is good, but we’re all probably better off taking the vehicle as-is & delaying that new car “pop” until after your at-home detail. Just tough since there’s really nothing else that we’d think to request the dealer “not do” besides this.

My request wasn’t even pre-planned- just spur of the moment when they told me they were pulling it around to the detail center.
