Like many of you I'm currently contemplating the purchase of a new 6th gen 4runner.

I'm priced out of all trims except for the SR5, but I'm seeing that it comes with a third row.

Is this third row mandatory, or can I option it out when placing an order at the dealership? I don't need a third row and would rather have the storage.

This would be a deal breaker for me as I need the storage area in the back, and would probably opt for a 2025 Bronco 4 door instead.

Yes that's exactly what I see on the Canadian website. I'm going to assume they can't be optioned out in this case but will check with the local dealership. That would be quite the letdown if not removable - I feel like the majority of buyers would prefer storage back there than an extra row.

I would assume Toyota Canada made the decisions on specific trim features and options based on their sales data / research which may have showed that 3rd row seat configuration are more popular.

Ya could be, maybe they used old data.

I wonder if the seats are removable.

doesn't the third row fold flat? I have the 3rd row in my rav4 and it folds down flat for storage and when i needed the seats i would fold it up.

I have a third row on my 5th gen. Yeah, it raises the floor by about 6 inches but it folds flat and still has a good amount of room. The 5th gen you can remove so assuming you can with the 6th gen too. But I agree, it is kind of lame if Toyota Canada does not offer as an option since the SR5 seems to be the value trim on the 6th gen.

Also i would check out the bronco cargo hold area, seems like less usable room to me than a 4runner(even with a 3rd row) since it has roll bars intruding.

From what I'm reading I believe the 6th Gen third row does not fold.

Apparently the 6th Gen third row does not fold. I'm hoping it's removable although I'm going to guess it won't look as polished if removed. I've checked out and test driven the 4 door bronco, trunk space is quite massive, roll bars are quite high up and out of the way to the side.

They have to be removable since they’re optional in the US. I’m guessing they are port installs since it’s nation wide but you’ll be able to remove them for sure.

Shit I wish I was able to install those in my hybrid. We’d maybe have a deal lol
