Looking for my first Toyota 4Runner
When using the connected services app to do a remote startup with your phone, has anyone noticed that apple carplay won’t automatically connect?

I have to manually go into the settings and switch apple carplay back on. Is there a fix for this?

I did notice, because the phone wasn't in range to connect to the "radio" that I had to select it from the menu or restart the 4Runner

When you say “select it from the menu” do you mean the bar on the leftside of the screen? I have to go into the phone in the settings and toggle it back through there.

Actually going into the system settings and selecting the device

if you are not in range when the vehicle remote starts, the connection will time out and do a soft lockout of that phone. i know on the wife's phone in our 23 tundra is does that now and will reconnect when we do a restart on the tundra or android auto most of the time.

sometimes we have to do a head unit restart (push the power button for 5-10 secs, this applies to all toyota head units since the early 2010's)

I have noticed that when I’m driving, my apple CarPlay will disconnect from my phone. I then have to go into the settings and reconnect my phone. I live in a rural area so I’m thinking my cell service might be the cause.
