Is it me or does the taillights on the 4Runner Prototype have the same design element as the LC? 🤔 This is how I see it, get the side taillights of the LC Shrink them just a bit then add the full width light bar at the rear
That’s a great question! I never really thought of Toyota offering the 3 row on the 4Runner but given that the LC doesn’t have it maybe they could offer it and might distinguish it enough to maybe sway a buyer? But then again the ones sold in Europe and Japan will get it but NA won’t. I feel...
Other brands do this exact thing. They tend to put the base trims out first to at least accumulate some sales then offer the heavy hitters. The heavy hitters this time around aren’t only the TRD Pro and Trailhunter but also that I-Force Max. The Powertrain alone is very interesting with how much...
They might do a Tacoma and offer them at a later date. I feel like also with the inclusion of the Land Cruiser and it being the I-Force Max might want to give that model some breathing room to sell some models first before Toyota offers that engine setup in the 4Runner.
I feel like the majority of the things we see on the Tacoma will transfer to the 4Runner unless Toyota has some surprises! Overall should be a great product just like the past models.
Thinking about it, it does look like the same. Also another interesting thing is that the mesh cutout for the rear window looked to be Velcro in which could imply them opening it up if they need to test it at some point. We’ll have to wait and see other spy shots
Think how Toyota changed it slightly from Tundra to Sequoia. That’s how I feel Toyota will apply it for the 4Runner. TRD grill wise it should have “Toyota” written across the Grill for TRD Pro. Sport and Off Road will get the logo.
I hope someone catches it driving again soon but we get to see the front end. I would assume they will start popping up around Colorado, Texas and more in Michigan. I will see one thing I also noticed off the bat from the spy shots that it has the 360 camera system like the Tacoma. You can kinda...
Yes they have 2 plants. One in Tijuana and one in Guanajuato. Both Plants currently build the Tacoma. Guanajuato though builds truck beds as well unlike the one in Tijuana.
Nothing fully stands out to me other than the red tape across the back tailgate. The one thing I’m glad to see even with all the cladding added to it is that it looks about 1.5-2 inches wider which is a given since the Tacoma is wider then it’s predecessor. Looking forward to seeing if new spy...
The 4Runner main market is North America. Although it would be better to switch over, the current rumour is that it’ll be built in Japan still. Could they surprise us and build it in Mexico, possibly but it’s slim chance as nothing has changed in the Mexico plant.
Not likely. The 4Runner is currently built in Japan and will continue to be built there. Tacoma makes sense to be built in Mexico but 4Runner doesn’t even if it’s the same Powertrain/Platform. If I’m not mistaken Japan builds the Land Cruiser, 4Runner, GX and LX.
