If they add the Trailhunter package like they did with the other models, then your dreams of steel bumpers would be fulfilled. ARB front and rear steel bumpers.I would love to see steel bumpers as well. I agree, I think they will really step up the game for offroading capability as well as accessories.
Have to say I like this rendering better than any I have seen. We had a 2001 4Runner SR5 and it was nice, we just graduated away to smaller, ending up with a Mercedes GLK then now our GLC. GLC is nice but my wife saw someone's upscaled 2024 4Runner and started having nostalgia for the old one. So now we can't wait for the 2025 to hit the streets. Being retired now more time for fun and camping. This latest 2025 4Runner (6th gen) intel comes from a long-time credible insider source (who has also provided reliable info for some of our other sites):
2025 4Runner is heavily evolutionary in design:
Engines:
- features similar front end design to the new 2024 Tacoma -- with angular, aggressive styling
- the C pillar will be much more upright for better ease of entry
- not too different in styling from the current vehicle
- 4Runner TRD PRO model will still be offered
Timing:
- power is now provided exclusively by the 2.4 turbocharged T24A-FTS range (like the 2024 Tacoma)
- Here are the 2024 Tacoma's engines & transmissions:
- Base 2.4-liter turbo, 228 hp/243 lb-ft and eight-speed auto [2024 Tacoma specs]
- i-Force 2.4-liter turbo, 270 hp/310 lb-ft and six-speed manual [2024 Tacoma specs]
- i-Force 2.4-liter turbo, 278 hp/317 lb-ft and eight-speed auto [2024 Tacoma specs]
- i-Force Max 2.4-liter turbo hybrid, 326 hp/465 lb-ft and eight-speed auto [2024 Tacoma specs]
- 6-cylinder is dropped
Misc:
- Job 1 production expected July 2024
- Will be Model Year 2025
- prototypes have been on US soil in limited instances, for marketing and testing purposes since Q1 2021.
- the most firm date on a prototype unit in USA was March 2021.
Based off the above intel and the revealed 2024 Tacoma design, we believe our renderings should be good predictions of what the 2024 4Runner will look like!
The steel bumpers on third generation rusted easily and fast. These are the best renderings so far, in my opinion. I would like Toyota to keep the same wide bottom grill they've had since 2nd gen. Hope they keep the more simple taillights, also. Big loss if the power rear window is removed. Would like to see a panoramic moon roof, too. M/T would be great! @sub_sonarman
If Toyota is really going after the Wrangler and Bronco crowd, as some have suggested, they should go back to the steel bumpers that Gen 1-3 had. It would be a lot easier to add winches and lights without cutting the plastic fascia.
That is true. But if they made heavy duty steel bumpers like the Rubicon or Badlands they would work better. Of course, based on the new teaser shots the 4R is going to have plastic "bumpers".The steel bumpers on third generation rusted easily and fast.
