Here's an Auto Start Stop (ASS) disable tool for the 4Runner models that have ASS (SR5 4x2, TRD Sport 4x2, Limited models).

The 2024 Tacoma guys confirm that it works on their trucks.

It's also just annoying for some drivers to feel the engine cutting in and out. Others aren't bothered by it.

I would surmise that these wouldn't be used with a hybrid since the electric motor engages first from a stop?

Right, no Auto Start Stop on the i-Force Max Hybrid models.

Do you know if I chose to leave it, is it easily disabled? Just wondering if this has its own dedicated button or if I would need to go through a menu of options.

It's easy to disable auto start stop via the button on the center console. But it won't remember your last setting and will need to be pressed / disabled again everytime after you shut down the truck and restart it.

Darn, I'm gonna be one of the lucky ones then with my SR5. The only time I would voluntarily reject ASS (sorry, I have man child humor).

It's easy to disable auto start stop via the button on the center console. But it won't remember your last setting and will need to be pressed / disabled again everytime after you shut down the truck and restart it.

That's a PITA for me, definitely need the auto start stop delete/defeat device.

I hate the auto start stop function on a lot of cars now. I have a 2019 bmw x4 with that feature and the biggest issue I have with it is the motor mounts prematurely giving out and collapsing at only 35k miles. Every shop I took the car to, including dealerships, say its because of the car stopping and starting a ton more than usual when driving local.

Where I live in the south the ASS isn't as much of an inconvenience since it's so hot most of the time the system doesn't auto stop due to the demand for max A/C.

I hate ASS on my Bronco. I switch to sport mode almost every time I drive because that disables ASS.
