Thanks for sharing your experience with a 1up on your ORP. That'll be my set up later this week when I take delivery on a ORP.

With bikes on your rack, have you had any issues with the vehicle thinking you're in a tow mode?

After disabling the parking sensors and PKSB, are the 360 cameras affected? Do you still get all the views on the display or do some of them get disabled?

I was also concerned about the power liftgate and started another thread about that. Someone called me a sissy, but clearly they don't drive around daily with expensive bikes.

I'm planning to delete the power struts down the line. Initially, I might open my key fobs and alter the button to disable the power lift from the key. The power lift switch is also directly below the fuel door release. I'm sure the chance is extremely low for an accidental press, but it could be an expensive mistake. I'm also considering popping off the harness from that switch, but it'll probably require a bit more than that to keep things working.
Let the forums know if you end up removing the power liftgate.

I’m getting less concerned about the power liftgate, though I would still rather a normal liftgate. I think that disabling the button on the key fob and disabling the hands free mode should make it a non-issue for accidental opening. Hands free mode seems like a huge risk for accidental opening into a bike (while putting it on/off, for example)

here’s a pic of the backup camera and panoramic view. It still works pretty well, I think.

I haven’t had any issues with the car thinking I’m towing anything. I’m not familiar with any towing settings yet. Mine does have the tow package.

This is really helpful to see. I run a double super duty rack, so I tend to keep it down so it doesn't block the camera when bikes aren't loaded. I won't have the tow package installed (although I did want that for the digital rear view). From what I've read in the manual, some of the tow warnings other 6th gen users have reported are most likely due to a larger rack being tilted up and obscuring enough of the camera for Auto Trailer Detection. This is in the manual on pg 318, but you can't permanently disable it.

With your parking sensors disabled, I assume that turns them off up front as well? If I've interpreted the manual correctly, some of the tow modes let you keep front sensors, while disabling the back sensors.

I'm not in any rush to delete the power struts, but most likely will look into it once parts become available.

Interesting. I have a single 1up Quick Rack with an add on, but I rarely have the add on attached (usually only when I’m actually carrying a second bike)

I did attach the add on rack this weekend and found that I could have it fairly out of the way on the middle setting (45 degrees or so) and still open the liftgate, if I inserted the rack into the hitch the right amount. I’m not sure if the super duty has adjustments like the quick rack for insertion depth.

I also did drive to the trail with two bikes on my rack without any issues.

I found that if the liftgate did open with a bike on it would hit the pedal first. So I’ve considered covering the pedal with a rag or some rubber. I don’t think the force would damage the bike, but it would put some weird stress on the wheels as the liftgate pushes on the pedal.

You can also disable the power liftgate entirely in a settings menu, but then it’s very difficult to actuate.

Great suggestion regarding the 45* closed angle. I hadn't considered that. I'm also using a Kuat swing out so I don't have to remove bikes to access the back of the vehicle. This helps keep the rear hatch further away, but on my 5th gen I still can't open it with a bike on the rack (pedal hits). Of course, this swing out might further confuse the sensors now that the bikes sit further away from the vehicle. I guess I'll find out very soon.

I've only played with some 6th gen scenarios at the dealership during a test drive. I was surprised how challenging it was to close the liftgate in the "manual" setting. When I set it to manual, I couldn't get it to close on my own. A few other people tried and also struggled to get it to close all the way back down without an insane amount of force that feels like you'll break something.

Maybe the manual liftgate setting is only for opening and not closing? It was easy-ish to open without the motors. I never attempted to press the power close button while it was in manual mode. Have you tried that?

There are also settings for how far it opens (1-5, plus a user configurable one). Setting 1 barely pops it open (it wouldn't hit a bike). I guess you would then have to manually open it to full height and then auto shut still works? I wasn't able to test that workflow.

Good idea to cover the pedal on the inner most bike. Of course, just one more annoying thing to think about every ride. I doubt I'd follow through with that approach for very long. Makes me miss the simplicity of my 5th gen.

No issues with my 1Up rack! This is the last bike rack you’ll ever need, all aluminum construction and no plastic. Looks great on the new SR5, though I wish I spent the extra $50 to get a black 1UP at the time. The back up camera is definitely a little obstructed compared to my previous vehicle that had an aftermarket hitch.

I have the black and I treat it with a UV protectant. No fade so far. I think the silver looks "unfinished". However, both serve the primary purpose quite well and far better that the plastic competitors.

Also looking at string, well made 2" hitch extender, if needed to clear the rear hatch. 1UP also has a swing out attachment - https://1up-usa.com/product/rakattach
