I was at 17 miles until today. Now at a whopping 78 miles driving carefully to break-in the engine. I repurchased Carista knowing I may want to check codes, customize features, etc. I used it on another vehicle a few weeks ago and it's pretty slick. I previously had a tool for VW's that was way more complex and complete in its capability, almost scary.

Anyways, I ran Carista this afternoon with the accessory mode on, engine not started. As the car is only a few days old and went through an apparent service inspection, I was expecting no codes. Seems I hit the jackpot and found a bunch. Unfortunately, not timestamp exists on the codes which is a shame. Maybe I am doing something wrong?

The codes are listed below and my questions on the codes are:

1) Should I leave in place or reset and see if they come back?
2) How would a dealer react to an owner reading the codes and reporting them as an issue?
3) I looked at the Carista "Supported Vehicles list and it states 2009+ and 5th Gen. Nothing listed for the 6th gen. This makes me wonder if the faults I am seeing are because the software does not support the 6th gen.

Here are the codes:

ABS:
C14FE14 - Steering Angle Sensor Supply Voltage: Circuit Short To Ground or Open

Telematics:
U014087 - Lost Communication With Body Control Module: Missing Message
U015587 - Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Control Module: Missing Message

Entry / smart key:
U014087 - Lost Communication With Body Control Module: Missing Message
U015587 - Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Control Module: Missing Message

Power source control:
U014087 - Lost Communication With Body Control Module: Missing Message
U114F87 - Manufacturer-specific code
(tap to search)

Power steering:
C14FE14 - Steering Angle Sensor Supply Voltage: Circuit Short To Ground or Open

Thanks in advance.....

Also, those folk recommending Carista may want to know the 6th gen is not supported yet~

3 days old, starts fine. 12.5 volts when sitting without engine running and accessory mode on. I will monitor. I usually connect any of my vehicles to a battery tender when not expexting to use for a few days.

If anyone has the Carista Eco scanner and app and can run a report on a new 2025 4R SR5, I'd be very interested in the results.

Thanks in advance....

Is your 4Runner throwing a check engine light?

If not, I wouldn't worry and would agree that it's just not supported yet, and the data translation is what's causing the codes to show up. If it is on, I'd take it to the dealer and let them sort it out.

This really leads to another question on if Carista is a viable product for the 4R6G yet. I purchased a year of functionality based solely on forum recommendations but I failed to check the supported vehicle list. I wonder if I can pause or get a refund on the years subscription.

I have emailed them asking when full support will be available. they usually take 2-3 days to get back to you.

Only got 95 miles on it so, self learning or self fixing is a possibility, I guess.

It would be great to find someone with carista and 2025 SR5 to run a diagnostic and compare.

Thanks. I was aware of perm codes from another vehicle and how they clear themselves if the root cause is fixed. On a Ford, it took 50 plus miles of mixed driving.

Car breaking in. Learning curve working in. Step back from the ledge. It’s gonna be ok

@Hobbs3s:
Thanks for confirming you had the same, cleared them and no return. You would think that Toyota or the dealer would do that before they sell a new vehicle.

It would be nice to see a time and date stamp on all error codes. Oh well.

Stepping down from the ledge and will clear the codes this afternoon.

I couldn't tell you how to get to it, but I think I remember a video showing a screen (maybe via car settings) that displays a list of any codes that the car has detected. If that list is empty (as it was in the video I saw), probably nothing to worry about.

PS if you do find how to get to that screen, please post it. It's yet another thing I saw in a video that I didn't jot any notes down and should have.
