We picked up my wife’s Heritage Blue Off-Road Premium last week and just wanted to get a thread going so I can journal the modest mods I have planned for it. It’s currently sitting next to my 2015 Trail Edition thats in my driveway.

This 6g will be our daily/roadtrip car, so no massive off-road mods planned.

ORP Spec:
Tow Package
Moonroof
OEM Dashcam
D Pillar Lights

Modifications/Parts:
TRD Skid plate
TRD tow hooks
All-weather mats
Lasfit turn signal bulbs (switchback)
Cali raised hood struts
AJT Fob Heritage Blue

Planned parts:
Full Length roof rack
Ko3s
TRD Pro Grille
TRD Pro Wheels

Just installed the TRD Pro skid plate and tow hooks. 30 mins start to finish.

Super annoying that there appears to be a stamped spot where they intended an oil drain port to be, but it isn't cut... wtf.

I thought that spot was a jacking point.

Eh, personally, I would absolutely avoid jacking the truck on an aluminum skid. Or really any skid plate. The factory TRD skid in my 5th gen def had some dents in it from the trail and I don’t think it had that much weight on it.

I’ll have to check mine, but I thought the dent was flush with the frame cross member.

Ah yeah if it is, then you’re probably right about it being a jack point. Just saw that the trailhunter skid has the same stamp too

It’s a shame they didn’t include an access door. Probably because the filter is so high up, but at least they made 2 holes slotted for an easier install.

Looking good! How’s the visibility of the skid plate? It seems to be more tucked under than on the 5th gen.

With stock suspension it's barely visible. You can see the front of it, but to see the red TRD you'd have to be pretty much on the ground lol

Put the lastfit turn signal/driving led light bulbs in. Also another look at the skid and tow hooks.

Finally found some dirt to drive on. Put it in 4h just to break it in. Handled some washboard roads like a champ. Way more comfortable than my 5th gen on Bilstein coilovers.

She looks good with some dust on 'er!

Looking good! I didn't think the TRD Skid Plate and red tow hooks would make much difference cosmetically since they're so low and tucked under, but they give the truck just that little extra visual pop. 👍

Do you have the part number for the TRD tow hook? Trying to see if they are any cheaper than the aftermarket options. Can't believe what they are charging for such a simple product.

Do you have any plans to swap out the stock step bars?

I’ve been considering painting the stock tow hooks. There are forum posts about this for tacomas and other vehicles.
