Hey everyone,
I'm in the process of ordering a 2025 4Runner, but I'm torn between the TRD Off-Road Premium and the Sport Premium trims. I love the off-road capability of the TRD OR, but the Sport Premium’s smoother ride and looks are also appealing.
My dealership doesn’t have either in stock and quoted a 3–4 month wait for a custom build. They said they don’t do markups, which is great—but since they’re part of Southeast Toyota (SET), they said certain add-ons are required on every build, including:
  • Toyoguard (maintenance + roadside assist)
  • Clear Paint Protection
  • All-Weather Floor Mats
  • Phone Charging Cables
These optional additions total ~$1386, + ~$2580 (Taxes 3%, Doc fees $698, DMV fees $129).
These are not optional, and I haven’t been given an official out-the-door price yet because it depends on my final build, but it sounds like several thousand dollars extra ~ $5,500 above MSRP.
Is this normal for SET dealers? Has anyone been able to negotiate these off or go through a dealer in a different region to avoid them? And most importantly—what are your thoughts between the TRD Off-Road Premium vs Sport Premium?

Would definitely opt for the TRD ORP. Both my wife’s 3rd Gen Taco & my 5th Gen 4R are ORPs. Happy with suspensions and crawl control & MTS.
My 2 local SET dealers both agreed to order me a 6th Gen TRD ORP without the extra SET garbage which I didn’t want. Actually had one secured through one of the dealers but decided to go with a low miles 2024 5th Gen instead.
6 months before I was able to order & buy a 2025 Signia, during the build phase, and withheld all SET ‘required’ add ons.
Just have to find a dealer willing to work with you. Having an established relationship of prior purchase and slowing demand due to high prices helps.

I was originally set on preordering the TRD Off-Road Premium, but changed my mind after reading several threads here. I commute over 100 miles a day and don’t plan to do any serious off-roading, just occasional camping/fishing trips in NC and VA.
Now I’m leaning toward the Sport Premium for the smoother ride and better daily comfort. I am still searching and haven’t moved forward with the preordering yet.

I was thinking about refinancing at another place. They look my paperwork and laughed. First was the dock feed $250.00 . I said what is a dock feed and how much it should be. They charge $49.00 and it for them doing the paperwork. Google vehicles dock feeds. Two oil change for $700.00 that crazy. Many dealers ship will paid for the first oil change. Taxes is 3% that very low for any city. Maybe no state taxes you live in.
