TRD Skid Plate installed on 2025 4Runner Off-Road Premium - Photos

Just put on the TRD skid plate. Installation was a breeze, didn’t even need to lift the vehicle. Just had to remove 8 12mm bolts holding the 2 plastic protectors and then install using 6 out of the 8 bolts you just removed. Yes it felt weird have extra parts haha.

So are you saying that the stock TRD ORP skidplates are plastic?

Yes. They are a very thick plastic but still plastic. They are now in the trash.

I am definitely considering it, wish they made one that matches the TRD one though.

Thanks for the reply. That is very disappointing to hear they are plastic.

I want to like the 6th gen, and I'm trying to find a reason to replace my 5th gen TRD ORP, but cost-cutting measures like that aren't helping.

It would only take one rock puncturing your oil pan to make you wish you would have upgraded; It makes for a tough journey out leaking oil. This is cheap insurance. It certainly shouldn’t have been cheaped-out on Premium platforms!

I know this is an old thread but my Sport premium came with a felt protector. You thought plastic was cheap? I ordered the TRD plate from the dealer.

I ordered a TRD and for them to advertise skid plates then see these is BS! Anyway, we have the TRD pro skid on our '23 but it has an access door for oil changes, and I see this one doesn't, can you change the oil without removing the skid?

I don't think you can change the oil and filter without removing it. It's only 6 bolts.
