Greetings All -

I’m trying to verify the true ground clearance of the TRD ORP: Toyota publishes 9.1” (.5” less that the 9.6” published for my 5th gen) but I’ve seen several remarks indicating that removing the air dam increases ground clearance to 10.1”.

Has this actually been verified as correct? Obviously it will improve by some number; just want to know what the real ground clearance will be after I remove the dam dam.

Thanks In advance for any input

the ground clearance if i remember correctly is not defined by the air dam, but the low hanging fruit of the shock mount points or pumpkin

the air dam might affect the approach angle more than clearance,

but then again, the air dam is mostly for toyota cafe numbers not your mpg

Here’s what I’ve learned in case others are interested:

Thanks to the good folks at Wescott Designs, the below video demonstrates that after the air dam is removed the lowest point is the rear differential - at least for TRD ORP - and it measures 10” above level ground.

So removing the air dam should result in a 10”ground clearance.
