In other news, seems like the 2.4T Hybrid is a great engine all around. Let’s see how it varies in the Tacoma products though. As for videos I loved TheStraightPipes one and Throttle House especially with how tough the new Land Cruiser is built. If you watch that video you can see how it did in...
I wasn’t expecting anything less. That electric motor sandwiched between the engine and the transmission is like all other cars that feature that setup, it’s not only to help mitigate the Turbo lag but also give you peak torque at a lower RPM. Great choice by Toyota.
I don’t think it’s a major loss. I know a lot of people like having that feature on the 5th gen but I never saw one 4Runner on a dealership lot have one.
It’s not a V4 it’s an Inline 4. As for the TRD Pro it’s expected to only carry the Hybrid engine. A plug in hybrid could be in development but we don’t know.
Toyota uses the 2.4T with the Hybrid in the Highlander, Grand Highlander I believe and Crown. On the Lexus end it’s the NX and RX that use them. I could be wrong though
The Hybrid systems in these Trucks are really cool. I think getting a Hybrid Powertrain for those models will be great. If I could choose one right now it would definitely be the 2.4T with the Hybrid.
Actually that’s the main reason why it doesn’t get it. In Europe they have the 3rd row but that’s because those come with Diesels under the bonnet. Since the battery takes up that space, it would be hard to put a 3rd row.. I mean look at the Sequoia and how that turned out. It’s another reason...
I think the Tacoma pricing for TRD Pro is going to be higher than what the 4Runner will be. The Tacoma has so many other off road features especially those seats which will definitely make the cost go up
