I would like to see where 4Runners are arriving at dealerships that are not on hold for someone and not ordered. There was a post with a Supersonic Red in Miami. Anybody else seen one on a lot?

i think most incoming vehicles are already spoken for and if someone backs out most dealers have a waiting list that is probably 10-20+ deep waiting. its going to take about a year before you will get one on a lot waiting to be sold.

i mean when the 22 tundra came out it took quite a while for them to get non sold tundras.

Some select dealers do not have backup lists for cars that are ordered and will have it available on the lot if the original purchaser drops out. That is how I got mine :)

I think this is pure speculation, about the 10-20+ deep waiting list. How could you know that?

At this price and ports/dealers not slowing down on acce$$ory shenanigans, I expect them to pile up on lots by summer, just like the Tacos.

Several dealers in the Denver area have multiple not reserved 4runners. Ones that are reserved say sale pending. Most not reserved seem to be Sport non- premium. None on lots yet.

it just depends on the dealer. my dealer has no problem selling toyota's and usually has most incoming pre-sold before they arrive at the dealership.

i mean i am getting mine at guaranteed invoice so that one is pre-sold but it will show on the website as in transit and not pre-sold to help draw interest even though it already sold.

i mean when we had our 2016 tacoma pre-sold my neighbor across the street tried to buy it out when it arrived at the dealership.

it was actually really funny when he came across the street to tell me the story i stole his truck, when i put in an allocation reserve request before it was even built.

he did eventually get a tacoma, but his is red vs our blazing blue pearl tacoma

When I arrived at my dealership to purchase an hour early there was 5-6 families that showed up attempting to purchase behind me. There is definitely demand.

I'm sure the region comes into play a lot too. I'm a mid-sized market I guess (OKC metro area). There are Tacomas that have been on the lots here for six months. There's at least one Trailhunter that's been physically sitting at my closest dealer for more than a month and a Pro that's been on another lot for two months.

You can't raise the MSRP over 20 percent, then have the ports and dealers add another 3-5 grand and expect them to sell like they did five years ago, when nobody got a raise and eggs are $8 lol

well my dealer is part of the kansas city regional port. but my dealer makes money by volume sold. they sell vehicles on the lot at msrp, if they pre-sold it (deposit) they sell at invoice.

they make more money by meeting monthly/quarterly sales quota's and the bonus/kickback from meeting regional sales goals.

they learned that nickel and dime customers your income floats to much from month to month compared to a set amount.

KS isn't under Gulf States Toyota, so they can likely avoid all the crappy port additions.

I disagree with your expectation about them piling up by summer. The 5th Gen 4Runner remained essentially unchanged for 15 years or so. Many of the articles/reviews I read about the 6th Gen refer to the 5th Gen as a dinosaur that was long-overdue for a modernization. And yes, just as eggs now cost $8, anyone expecting this significant of a design to the 4Runner without a significant price increase, well, those folks are just not being realistic. Do I wish I could pay less for the one I am getting, yes of course, but am I losing sleep over it, no, I am not, I am looking forward to the updated, modernized version of the 4Runner. The Tacoma has been updated and modernized steadily since since 2009, unlike the 4runner, so using the demand for Tacoma's to guess about the future demand of the 4Runner, well, it's just a guess. I don't think it will play out that way, but we'll see, maybe you will be right and the 6 Gens will be stacked up on the lots, even though there are waiting lists 10-20 deep at some dealerships (well, that is what I heard on the internet anyways. )

yeah i cant stand GST/SET regions, the crap they force on you to take regardless of model.

and dont get me started on the TSS package in GST that is confusing poeple with the TSS 3.0 on toyota's

Hahaha! My Tundra is a "TSS" package. There wasn't really confusion about that in 2013 though LOL

I knew it was stickers and wheels and a couple of tech bits on an SR5 when I bought it, but I liked the wheels and it was the bright red color that I love. Plus, with the incentives available at the time, it came out to $800 less than I could get the Rock Warrior for, and that was boring white anyway :D
