Can I get opinions on anyone who knows. So I just put a deposit on non hybrid Everest TRD ORP and really wanted the iForce Max Hybrid. I haven’t be able to locate a similar one to what I ordered with a max engine. Can anyone who has tried both maybe even in a Tacoma provide their input on how similar or different they feel in driving or towing. Mileage isn’t a concern.
Thanks

I have the LC 250 and this SR5. The SR5 feels fine and peppy with the 2.4L. It's lighter so I'm sure that helps. At highways speeds the LC runs out of breathe IMO.

With the sleeker profile I felt like the SR5 did better.

I guess that is in line with the findings of C&D on their Tacoma...

" The feds say the hybrid fares even better at the pump (23 mpg combined), and its extra grunt sharpens the powertrain's initial throttle response. However, the system tends to run out of steam under sustained acceleration, and it brings several hundred pounds of additional mass. We'll quantify our impressions once we get an example to the test track, but we expect the 4Runner to perform similarly to the Tacoma: In our tests of the pickup's hybrid and nonhybrid TRD Off-Road trims, the standard powertrain was the quicker of the two, posting a 7.0-second 60-mph time to the hybrid's 7.6 seconds. The placement of the hybrid's estimated-0.9-kWh battery under the 4Runner's cargo floor also makes for a higher liftover height, and it eliminates the availability of a third row of seats. "

At highway speeds I don't think the hybrid drive engages at all. Doesn't by my observation. Not enough power to assist.

I drove both on the Tacoma and found the hybrid to be both peppier and more refined. I didn't really like the roughness of the gas engine, and while the hybrid still has some of that, it's much better.

For me, I'd rather pay the upcharge for the hybrid for the extra power, extra refinement, and extra MPG. The one big downside for me was the impact on cargo room. I have an Everest ORP HV coming in this month!

Thanks. This is good info. Was hoping to find some comparison videos but aside from one Tacoma video which is saying what you’re saying, I haven’t found very little. I hate to feel like I’m settling. I’ll keep looking but at least I have one on deposit

There is a gauge on the console that displays battery usage. There are some Tacoma videos that show usage from 0 to 5 mph. After that the turbo is spooled and it’s all engine. Maybe the hybrid reduces stress long term on engine.

something no one else has mentioned is the amount of cargo space you loose going Hybrid. Our family loves to camp and the 10 cubic feet of space was a no go. That plus the reduced cargo weight you can load having the hybrid

I’d probably get a LC250 if a non hybrid version was available. Since it’s not, the 4R is my preference for the lower price, less weight, more cargo room and less complexity. Also 3rd row option!
