Well you deserve every penny you are saving on that Invoice price deal you are getting.

I don't think I would survive very long in your part of the country. We just got 7 inches of snow on Wednesday and the whole area shut down for two days.

Last night, it dipped to the mid-20'S......YIKES !

lol you do realize his adjustment is -1000 off the msrp (tsrp)
@Nodak I did read it wrong. I just looked at it quickly and saw the dreaded 'dealer adjustment' and $1,000 next to it and didn't see the 'minus $1,000'. It didn't even enter my mind that there actually exists a place where a dealer would put up $1,000 off (without even any negotiations) on the very first 6th gen 4Runner's that they received. "Is this heaven? No, it's North Dakota." Nobody else does that. We see every day on this forum dealers asking for a 5,000 to 10,000 'dealer adjustment' on their first allocations of the 6th gen and that's not even including the hybrids yet.

I've just come to the conclusion that people in North Dakota are generally nicer than people most everywhere else. There must be a shared misery there where the dealer says to himself, "This dude just had to drive to work in -33 degree temperatures. We're just not gonna screw him over completely on his new rig. We'll make a little money off of him, but we won't completely rob him by charging him over MSRP." 99% of all the other dealers in the country are not like that. In fact, they are the opposite. They're looking to squeeze every possible penny from you.

the reason this dealer does this invoice/msrp is they make more money off meeting toyota regional sales quota's (pretty sure its quarterly metrics) than trying to nickel an dime each customer.

as a bean counter and possibly owner, would you rather have to pray you make enough money each month/quarter to stay in business or would you rather get a guarantee payday for a set amount ?

its the same if you do a commission on sales, if you dont get enough sales your paycheck is crap and you cant pay bills or get a 80 work week paycheck for the same amount each time?

plus the sales people have an incentive to sell vehicles. the dealer passes those incentives down to them if hit certain monthly/quarterly sales targets.

now this only applies to my local dealer in regards to toyota. not every dealer is like this. some do this since they can meet the quarterly targets and still gouge customers on top.

but this sales plan my dealer has, pretty much keeps me coming back to buy from them. i think this 4R will be our familys combined 24 toyota since my first one in 1984 when i lived in georgia and was going to high school.

we have bought a ...
1998 4R Highlander version (me), 2004 4R sport (me), 2006 taco dc v6 (wife), 2009 rav4 v6 (wife), 2012 taco dc v6 (wife), 2014 4R limited (me), 2016 taco dc v6 (wife), 2018 tundra cm plat (wife), 2023 tundra cm plat non hv (wife)

and thats not including the kids.

we did buy other toyota's in this town but the dealership changed hands twice before they settled in with the current owner.

it was originally aspland toyota (late 80s), then sold to ryan toyota (early 90s), then sold to minot toyota (current) was bought in 1996

Well, you have it good up there, for sure. You deserve it based on your loyalty and number of cars bought from that dealership. I wish other dealers shared the same business model, but they don't down here in Florida. You've probably seen on another thread on this site that a Florida dealer just asked for a $13,000 dealer adjustment on a TRD Sport Premium. That's what I'm dealing with down here. And don't forget about the $1,000 doc fee. I'm seriously going to look in the northeast for my Platinum. I'm convinced I can get a better price up there.

yeah i was a clueless noob back in the 80's with SET (GST also)

if you can get out of those regions and find a good dealer, you could save thousands in cost and still save money by travelling outside the region.

the below regions have to follow toyota usa rules

New England Region -- Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island
Greater New York Region -- New York, New Jersey, Connecticut
Central Atlantic Region -- Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, District of Columbia
Western Region -- Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota
Ohio Valley Region -- Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee
Midwest Region -- Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota
Mountain Region -- Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming
Northern CA Region -- California north of the Los Angeles metro area
Southern CA Region -- Los Angeles metro area, and areas south
Pacific Northwest Region -- Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana

these regions do not follow toyota usa rules and are run by a family since the 50/60's and the same family runs the financial arm also respectively.

Founded by Jim Moran in 1968
SET - Southeast Region -- North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida

Founded, 1969 ; Founder, Thomas H. Friedkin
GST - Gulf States Region -- Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi

I posted this in another thread as well. FWIW - drove this ORP and managed to discreetly snap a few photos as the sales manager stepped away to take a call.
