This might be helpful for future 4Runner owners too -- here's an install of the TRD Pro front skid plate paired with the Trailhunter transfer case skid plate installed on a TRD Off-Road trim Tacoma.

Finally got my front skid plates on. The mismatch isn't as horrendous as I thought it would be and the TRD Pro skid plate matches the NYTOP recovery points pretty well.
Still have to get my rear end Trailhunter skid plate on and get the correct fuel tank strap to get the OEM full length fuel tank skid plate fully mounted.

Niiice. Gonna get the transfer case skid soon. It is interesting though, on one of the dealer's sites it says "DOES NOT WORK WITH TRD PRO FRONT SKID"... Clearly it does

Looks good, is there no OEM front recovery points? Or is it just that the NYTOP ones are nicer?

Saw this on another Toyota forum. Where it has been sprayed with Line-X, for more added protection. Thoughts?!?

Interesting idea never thought spray bedlining the skid plates. Makes sense for extra protection and some might prefer the black skid plate look over the silver steel / aluminum look. The red TRD letters logo also stands out more against the black.

Only downside I can think of is the Line-X bedliner spray material adds some weight (for anyone who's watching their 4Runner's weight). And the spray installer has to make sure to properly tape off the bolt holes or the owner's gonna have issues installing the skid bash plate.

waste of money adds zero performance unless doing for looks. Either the skid is going to hold up to the abuse or not. I'm guessing this person did it for the visuals which...... to each their own.

Honestly just seems like its more likely to get hung up on a rock. aluminum is meant to have some give to it and it will slide over rocks and stuff. This will just grab anything it comes in contact with...
