Thanks! It's Everest color with sunroof. I'm super excited. On the options my dealer was able to get a few PIO's removed saving over a grand and there are some I wanted and some I don't really need but it's not end of the world: Coin holder, door edge guards, key gloves, mudguards, all-weather mats, black badge overlay for the front Toyota logo and the inserts/overlay for the rear wording in Bronze (which I think will look really cool over the Everest color), cargo tote, side storage LED lantern, cross bars and 18" black wheels. I didn't want the black wheels but I think it will work out better since I'm not a fan of that black with the machine finish silver outline rims that come standard on the model.

I was stoked when I found out about the TURBO 2.4 (22re fan here). I also had for a year a VW TDI 1.9 ALH and that tiny turbo was awesome.
People don't realize that Turbos come a LONG way and Toyota has been using them for DECADES>
And nothing drive like a SUBARU. Wife has a 18' forester and that think has been coast to coast in serious weather and it's magical.
Subaru doesn't even offer turbos anymore do they?

Not on a forester anymore... the XT is long gone...
I Believe the WRX is the only one that does now. The STI is no more for the now...

Gave my 2004 Sport V8 (i bought new) to my nephew when I purchased my 2024 TRD ORP last July. A month ago, with only 2800 miles, a distracted uber driver ran a red light and TBoned my passenger side, flipped me and the truck upside down, horrible experience, im fine but sadly truck was totaled. Been a bear trying to find that same car, so finally put an offer on a TRD Sport Premium, 4WD Cutting Edge at MSRP. I have to fly to another state to get it. Hoping it all works out.

My 2021 TRD ORP got tbone by a red light runner, dumb **** somehow hit it so that the engine block got punctured by a bolt. Insurance wasn’t gonna pay 20k to replace the engine block on top of 15k in cosmetic damages, so they wrote it off and gave pay me market value for the vehicle.
Wow! Are you ok? Same thing just happened to me, i just posted. My 2024 TRd ORP, 2800 miles, flipped and totaled. Miss that beast! I replaced my 2004 Sport V8 with it, and now im having a bitch of a time finding something.

I’ve bounced around quite a bit in recent years.

Had a BRZ, then a WRX, then a Tacoma. Added in an Exige and then swapped the Tacoma for a MYLR. Have since sold both since I work from home and barely have time to drive for leisure with a newborn at home.

My wife is about to trade in her NX when the Grand Highlander Hybrid arrives. And I’m now waiting for my Underground Pro.

We’re about to be a full-on Toyota fam!

I have a 2014 SR5 4Runner which I have owned since new. (155k miles) Over the last year I have had to replace the rear tailgate window actuator when the rear window fell down due to interior rotting ($900) and the rear entire license plate light assembly due to the screws being rusted so badly that the bulb couldn't be accessed to be changed ($600). Im in New England and the paint still looks incredible but the undercarriage is so rusted that Im afraid of hitting bumps. The main seal has also begun to show some weeping. I made a deposit on a new SR5 and will be more proactive in applying surface shield or fluid film to prevent future rusting issues.

This will be my first 4Runner. It's not replacing anything, but will be my daily driver. I need something that I can drive in the winter if it snows as I won't take my car out in the crappy weather. I thought about getting the new Taco but we don't really need a second truck and I want something that we can take the dogs in. I was going to get a 5th gen, but decided to hold out for the new one because of all the upgrades. We will take it on road trips, camping, off-road trips, and where ever else we shall venture.

First time Toyota soon to be owner here. SR5 heritage blue in build stage right now. Apologies for the long post.

I have been a Ford owner for many years with a few twists along the way. History of vehicles include 1991 Honda CRX SI, 1995 Jeep Wrangler, 6 cylinder, BMW 1150 RT motorcycle, 2005 Ford Focus, 2005 F350 Diesel long bed crew cab ( still have with 30k miles in new condition), 2014 Ford Escape 2.0 Ecoboost Titanium 130k and current vehicle.

I am finding that the Ford dealers service departments are low quality, inexperienced, driven by profit not customer quality. This is based on two states and 6 dealers. So, with 130k, no warranty, low value, risk of high cost repairs, I decided to look around. This is where it got interesting.

My requirements in a new vehicle were:
1) Large SUV
2) Reliable
3) Preferably USA brand and built in the USA
4) Not Ford as my service experience and costs turned me of Ford.
5) Safety, newer tech, as good an mpg as possible for a large vehicle.
6) local dealer service departments that have a great reputation
7) Wifey approval
8) Smooth ride on road, no crazy super low profile tires, comfort over performance. Current Ford Escape used 19” wheels and you can feel every bump real bad.

I did look at Ford Explorer but wanted the V6 versions that sell for $62k. Then I discovered a history of engine failures including inlet valves. Calling dealers and Ford, found the issue was not fixed even for 2025 models. So, Ford was really out of the running.

Next, I got really interested in the Chevy Tahoe, GMC yukon and the suburban’s. They initially ticked a lot of boxes except cost. Loved the old school push rod V8 and assumed it would be super reliable being a long used, proven power train. Boy was I wrong, the 5.3 and my preference the 6.2 are blowing up engines like crazy. The national transport safety folk are looking at 887k for a possible recall. Again, I called Chevy and they conformed no remedial action has been taken on the 2025 models so they are at risk. An engine replacement was quoted at $25k out of warranty.

I then looked at the Mazda CX90 and found they have big transmission issues.

So, with reliability now being top of my must have list, I started looking at Toyota. First the Grand Highlander iForce hybrid. They the Sequoya iForce hybrid. That got way too costly but its a really nice car, I just cannot spend 90k on it. Then on to the 4runner.

It was a compromise, I really wanted a V6 hybrid but understand the 4 cylinder turbo will probably be reliable. If not, I would expect Toyota to do the right thing unlike some other brands that try to get of of the responsibility to fix issues.

I landed on the SR5 PT 4WD model. A complete compromise compared to the Sequoya but, approximately half the cost. Wish I could have the option of the battery in the SR5 but, its not a necessity.

If this works out, I will probably get a Tacoma or Tundra after selling my F350.

Hope it works out! Your logic seems somewhat like mine. I’m coming around to if I dare spend as much as something nice costs nowadays I expect more & better than what I’ve been getting. Including reliability to last longer.
