I think any trim including SR5 should be able to handle light trails and camping.
Concur... My thoughts were for our mentioned in the Poll response, 95% highway/5% Dirt Road exploring. (And that 95% highway usage is primarily longer 4-6 hour drives to visit friends and family in different towns/cities...). That the Limited would be the bargain costs buy-in to a 6Gen, or a Platinum if we wanted to spend a bit more... (AVS is the attraction to those models. And FT 4WD and 20" Rims with AT Rubber would be fine for Dirt Roads...).

For those in that 52% Light Trails/Camping - Those with Camping, and a bit more then Dirt Roadways - may fine other trims to be more appropriate for their anticipated usage?

LOL! I'll share that when I asked a 5Gen owner last year what model to focus on. He pointed me at the Limited, with the understanding of possible higher X-REAS maintenance cost ahead. And his opinion, that many owner's buy the more Capable Off Road 4Runners 'More for the look/image, then for actual Off Road usage!'... And yeah, just like trucks... Many are Gentlemen/Lady Truck Owners:)!)

there is only minor quality of life improvements of a platinum vs a limited. if you fully load a limited to a platinum and if you can get invoice, the price differential is roughly 3k. i already ran the numbers at invoice pricing.

ie: hud, better leather seats, auto rain sensing wipers, door mirror caps colored on limited vs black on platinum, door handles colored on limited vs black on platinum, platinum gloss black rims, etc. your best way to tell the minor differences is to use the toyota compare feature of a limited vs platinum.

i can get my platinum at 60k invoice with my specific options and a loaded out limited to the same specs as a platinum is 57k invoice.

Can't know how I'd use a 6G until I see how tough the SR5 and Limited trims are for overloading and rock crawling. Those are my choices because I need three rows. Will they be as tough as the Gen 5 versions? Both of those 5G trims could be cheaply modded for that kind of use, and when they were they'd be as robust as the Off Road / Pro models (albeit with fewer features such as crawl control).

It seems the Land Cruiser and GX 550 are plenty tough with their full-time 4WD setups. Will the 6G Limited be just as tough with simple mods? Or are the suspension and drivetrain components physically weaker?

This to me is the single biggest question about the 6G. We know about the new engine and trans and can make informed conclusions about their Pros and Cons. Likewise the new frame. But what about these other important components???

My delivery is scheduled for Feb 22nd to Mar 13th.

Perhaps your prices are higher because they have sales tax built in? I don't have sales tax in Oregon. But for an example This is what I am paying for a couple of those items.

Cross bars: $420
All weather floor mats: $248
All weather cargo mat: $130
Mudguard $160
Cargo cover $135

This was in line with the prices on toyota build site.

For me, in Texas,, on an SR5:

Cargo Lights, Interior D-Pillar: $399
All-Weather Liner Package (floor and cargo): $378 (Same price as yours)
Ball Mount: $89
Cross Bars: $430 ($10 more than yours)
Cargo Cover: $199 ($64 more than yours)
Connectivity Kit: $75 (this and the ball mount annoy me greatly)
Dash Cam: $499 (Also don't wantthis)
Vehicle Protection Package: $399 (Pain renewal cleaner, paint sealant, fabric guard...also don't want)
Predator Step: $745 (don't want, but it does look good imo)

So are the only things that we have in common, you're ahead by $74. It's strange how the prices differ like that, but when the only option for getting a 4Runner is sticker you don't really have a choice.

Ya mine is also coming with a handful of other upgrades other than the ones I listed. Some I do want and others not so much. But it was close enough to the build I wanted and was already alocated and on the way to the dealership so beggers can't be choosers I guess.

My last 4Runner was lifted, bigger tires, etc. but was never "off road." This new 6th Gen will remain stock, but curious as to the plans of others.
Same here.

I live at the base of a National Forest, but have a Jeep for the rough stuff. We'll take ours down forest roads at most. We're planning a couple of long trips to the Oklahoma and the PNW.

Cargo Lights, Interior D-Pillar: $399 (for me worthless)

All-Weather Liner Package (floor and cargo): $378 (the only thing on this whole PIO worthwhile)

Ball Mount: $89 (meh, wash, i can find a better setup combo than a single ball cost)

Cross Bars: $430 (worthless to me, since i will never carry anything on the roof, didnt on my 14)

Cargo Cover: $199 (never keep anything in the back to steal, so pointless to cover up something that isnt there, pita to put in/out to store if you want to carry stuff taller than the bar mount location)

Connectivity Kit: $75 (pure money grab for some usb cables)

Dash Cam: $499 (for that price you can get a blackvue or cheaper viofo 4k)

Vehicle Protection Package: $399 (complete money grab waste of money, but its mandatory in GST/SET regions above the dealer requirement, dealers have no say in dropping it)

Predator Step: $745 (ok steps if you never go off road or live in snow states, the leading edge of the steps collects mud/snow like mad, had this on 16 tacoma, hated it. steps snap off very easily if hit)

Yeah, the only one I truly want is the mats. At least the steps look good, I guess.

I have no idea what the "Vehicle Protection Package" actually means, but I almost hope I find way to get $3k out of it so someone loses money on an obvious attempt at borderline theft by mandating the coverage.

its a hold over and money grab for those old people that were conned into buying fabric protection back in the 80s, GST/SET kept it going for a can of this

For real. At a minimum, it should be something done at the factory and since this isn't a Yugo I'm guessing the paint has been applied pretty well.

MIne has:

Moonroof - $850 (I wanted this)
Tow Tech package - $400 (wanted this for the digital mirror, rest of it I could do without)
Connected Services - $325 (unsure how much I'll use this)
Roof Rack ARB - $1,710 (I do like the rack, not at that price)
Floor mats - $248 (overpriced)
Mudguards - $160 (will take off, won't last on the trails I hit)
Chrome badge inserts - $65 ( first think I removed after the air dam)

So all in all $2200 in stuff I would have passed on, I hope to recoup some on the rack. I'll also take off the running boards and get proper sliders and someone will buy those one they bash theirs up.
