Well, I'm being told I can't pick it up until tomorrow. I have no idea what's involved with preparing the vehicle, but evidently it takes a whole day. I asked them to not put dealership stickers on it, so hopefully they're not taking extra time to do that.
I will be insisting the dealership removes any and all of their stickers before I take ownership. That way it will be on them if they scratch anything. Looks like we all know what you will be up to tomorrow. Congrats in advance!

Oh man that sucks, my dealer had delivered at 1pm and I picked it up at 5.

How was the drive home?
It drives amazing! Lots of power and very comfortable. This is actually the third '25 I've driven now. I drove a Premium Sport a while back and they let me drive another premium ORP while they got mine ready (so I could verify a few things about the trim level and certain features). I also drove mine around town a bunch tonight just for fun, but I need to spend some time with it in the daylight figuring out all the buttons and features!

The tires are Falken Wildpeak AT/W3'A' . It's like a street / AT hybrid tire. The tread is not super aggressive like the ATW 3 and ATW 4... Something with that extra "A" in there that makes the tire different.

they need to do PDI on the vehicle. there is quite a few things that need to be set to baseline (seat travel, mirrors, compass, etc)

Depends on the dealer too and how busy or motivated they are. Some do PDI same day, some take longer.

@dirtwheeler glad you were able to drive it home same day congrats!

Would love to know more about the seat travel adjustment. Can a power seat be adjusted to move back further? Thanks!

My salesperson said my 4Runner ORP Hybrid has already been built and is in transport for a 3/2-3/19 delivery. However, the Vspec is status shows "A". Does this make sense?

The dealer only today gave me an allocation that someone backed out of. I wanted to change up the port accessories, but that's only possible if the vehicle hasn't landed at the port yet, obviously. He changed it in the system but couldn't guarantee anything

The power seats have a lot of variability in the distance to dash, height, backrest angle and seat angle. I'm 5' 11" and feel I'm most comfortable right in the middle of the range of adjustments. If I slide the seat all the way back I can barely reach the pedal with my toes. When it's all the way forward, I'm not sure I'd be able to fit. Similarly, with the height raised I feel cramped for headroom and with the seat all the way down I feel like I'm trying to look over the hood a little. Right in the middle I have a good view of the road.

The backrest also leans ridiculously far back. All I can think this would be useful for is people that plan to take a nap in their 4Runner. Also, when the seat is slid all the way back, there will be very little room for backseat passenger legs. So, if you have tall people in both front and back, you may have a problem. So far so good for our family, which I believe is average height. If you tilt the backrest all the way back it rests on the backseat, so you essentially don't have a backseat if you plan to do this (again, presumably to nap, because your head is lower than the dash at that point.)

I think I mentioned this somewhere else, but in my first test drive I thought there wasn't much headroom, but I didn't adjust the seat properly evidently. I sat in a similar Tacoma later , adjusted the seat controls, and realized I "overlooked" the height adjustment in the 4Runner (no pun intended). Now that I own a '25 4Runner and have driven it about 130 miles, I can tell you I'm very happy with the seat comfort, headroom, and view over hood after some adjustments. I can't speak for anyone else, but it seems reasonable to me that someone a few inches shorter or taller than me should be able to find a comfortable position since I think I am right in the middle of the adjustments.

FWIW, the seat heaters work great too, and I like having "real" buttons to adjust the heat. My last truck required you to go into the controls on a screen menu to adjust seat heaters. I haven't tried the seat cooling yet (which is something I never had before and can't imagine I will use a lot, but who knows).

i mean the seat adjustments for the 6G are the same as the 5G, so i dont see an issue if you were ok sitting in a 5G 4R

I was trying to get some more information on the status of my delivery and pieced together and updated information that I thought folks here might find this useful. Toyota has an unpublished/internal "dealer category" code for vehicles that progresses throughout the production and delivery process (which is difficult to lookup without a dealer spoon-feeding information).

The most useful codes appear to progress from "A" (allocation), to "F" (freight), to "G" (ground). I'm not going to regurgitate all the details I've learned about these codes, but a simple google search will reveal how these codes have been interpreted based on various experiences. In general, it appears that allocation (A) means the dealership has been assigned a vehicle and it is in some stage of production. Freight (F) means the vehicle has been built and is in transit (for 4Runners this generally means some stage from the factory to a port in Japan, then shipped to an overseas port, then transported within the destination country to a processing center or dealership). This is a fairly lengthy process that I've seen covered in detail in other threads on this website. I've seen a couple different interpretations of ground (G), but it appears this means the vehicle has arrived at the dealership and will be ready for the customer shortly thereafter.

Getting the dealer category code (and ETA) goes something like this for the time being (this information might have a short shelf life)...
  1. Ask your dealership/salesperson to send you a link for your vehicles spec sheet (via email or text). This is a URL they can generate from their system that starts out with "guest.dealer.toyota.com". The link itself does not contain a lot of information that is displayed. But there is information delivered "under the hood" that you can dig into to get more details. Open this link in Chrome or Brave (there's probably ways to do this in Edge and other browsers too). If they send you a PDF instead, ask for the web link again.
  2. Right click on the "Detail" tab/link. This will open a context menu.
  3. From the context menu that pops up, click on the "Inspect" link. It gets ugly from here if you're not a little bit of a tech geek.
  4. From the inspection/debugging information that is now presented to you, select the "Network" tab.
  5. Then refresh the page (F5 key).
  6. Now look for the element that starts with the letters "vspec" and select it.
  7. Then select the "Preview" tab.
  8. Finally, look for the dealerCategory value (and the ETA value might be interesting as well). Again, the "dealerCategory" value is just a single letter with an meaning that is not published by Toyota, but has varying interpretations based on user anecdotes.
  9. Repeat this process to see if/when this code changes.
If you're more into pictures, I did my best to put together a little graphic that helps illustrate these steps....

Superfluous extra notes for those of you that like detail....

Evidently, there used to be a way to just put together a link with your VIN and lookup this information without the spec sheet link coming from the dealership. There was also an unofficial website that evidently made this easier so all you had to do was provide a VIN, but that link appears to be obsolete now. It appears the Toyota website was modified so some additional encoding is required in the URL, making it mandatory to get a link from your dealership/salesman. Perhaps this will change again, or someone will come up with a better way to extract this information.

Really, Toyota should just make this easier in the future! But I think this is really about keeping information in the hands of Toyota, its dealerships, and its sales staff since public access to this information would empower customers with a lot more leverage related to product selection and negotiating. I get it from their perspective. It's just annoying from my perspective. They could also just improve the web page to show this information to users with the private link rather than having to disassemble the web page's source code (I'm guessing they will "fix" this eventually).

I found this useful so that I can obsessively check status without harassing the salesperson I'm working with. My 4Runner happens to be in the "F" (freight) stage right now... somewhere between Japan and my local dealership. I wish I could know more about this. If you note the times that the status changes, you will probably have a better idea of your delivery date based on the additional information provided in other posts on this website about the production and delivery timeline. The ETA is also not displayed on the web page, but can be seen via the bizarre procedure I posted. Perhaps that is more useful than the status code, but I wanted to see how the status code lined up with the ETA and other peoples experience.

Yes, I know I can just hound my salesperson. I just found this interesting and thought other might as well. I take no credit for any of this. There's an old reddit post here where somebody went to the trouble to figure all of this out, but the process is a little out of date: (URL can not be formed from the VIN alone and there's a couple minor tweaks once you get to the webpage). I didn't see the additional hoops to update this procedure documented anywhere, so thought I'd put together my own notes and share them.

For "my" 4Runner, there is no public information on the dealership website. I was just given the spec sheet link. I thought this was interesting since you can generally see "a lot" of vehicles on dealership websites and searchable in Toyota inventory. Mine is not discoverable at all via inventory searches as far as I can tell. So the spec sheet link is all that I have.

So i did some research and you can actually identify where you car is in the bulid/delivery process from the dealership website.

if the dealer lists your vehicle on their website click on it

from the vehicle page right click the page and select "inspect" like mentioned before, select the network tab then refresh the by hitting f5

2025 Toyota 4runner How-to: Track delivery status (from dealer provided spec sheet link) 1741626794951-c7

then look for the vin number associated with the vehicle it'll start with the vin then have a
"?dealerCd=" in the name

2025 Toyota 4runner How-to: Track delivery status (from dealer provided spec sheet link) 1741627158795-ga

there could be several vins displayed in the preview page. be sure to select yours specifically. this "might" help.. if your dealer doesn't share this information with you.

So odd mine still says “A” my dealer has told me from the moment I reached out that the vehicle was already on the vessel and left Japan. My ETA is also 03/30/25-04/14/25 so there’s no way this thing hasn’t even hit the water yet. Unless the ETA is flat out wrong. Is this something that has to be updated?

Mine said "A" until about a week after the vessel arrived at the port. Now on "F" status. ETA on Vspec is today thru 3/21.

I read elsewhere that the status won't change from A until the vehicle has checked in at the port. The next update to G will be when the vehicle is at the dealer.
