But... did they put that in writing or just said it verbally? A few dealers around SoCal are happy to take my deposit but they wouldn't commit to writing that down.
Depending on the dealer, they either wrote or typed it on the purchase contract. I'm in the midwest but I would try for it. There will be big demand to start I think, but that will fade toward the end of summer as supply perhaps surpassed demand. We will see.

Anyone put down deposit / reservation on an actual allocated 2025 4Runner yet?
Yes! No.... put a deposit down last spring for a new rav4, but when the wife saw the 4runner I called the dealer a month ago, told them to put me down for a trd pro or platinum. Lexington Toyota in mass, it's everywhere- 'we don't charge over msrp`

Not sure if any dealers are willing to write that down on a deposit receipt / acknowledgement. Anyone been able to get no-markup / MSRP guaranteed in writing?

My dealer is purely MSRP. That's what you're going to pay, and they will not drop prices towards invoice etc. unless it has been on the lot for a while.

Nice! Love the dealers that openly advertise a no-price-markup policy.

I was speaking more about the ones that don't -- whether anyone has gotten those dealers to ever acknowledge in writing on a deposit receipt / slip that the sale will be at MSRP.

I'm wondering what the test drive policy will be. With so few vehicles available initially, the first allotment vehicles will either incur a lot of miles in test drives or if sold leave no vehicle to show customers...

So is anyone thinking, “life is too short” to wait forever? The Land Cruiser is so similar in performance and price to the high end Runners. In my moments of weakness I dream of going down to a Yota dealer and actually test driving a LC1958. It may be 2026 before my lotto number comes up for a Trailhunter at my local dealer. Why spend life in constant angst?

Ok, just received an email from a Toyota dealer in SoCal saying that there's one 2025 SR5 4WD coming in soon, for $8k over MSRP. I'm looking for at least a hybrid 4WD.
So you guys think that when a dealership throws out a stupid number to see how stupid the prospective buyer is, that is the end game, the final price? Wake up fellas. They are being sold at MSRP now. I promise you.

When I was test driving LC's last year in August at several dealerships only one dealership actually had MSRP pricing and even then only for 1958's. All other dealers insisted on Markups between 3k and 5k plus dealer added features.
They rather had me walk away than lowering the price. At that time there were already quite a number of LC premium vehicles on the dealer lots that were not reserved to specific buyers. They still insisted on markups and I'm sure they eventually found customers that paid.

The LC is positioned as a premium vehicle so I guess the customer base is more willing to pay. The 4 Runner could be different because the customer base maybe is more utilitarian, pragmatic and off road oriented. So there is a chance that most customers do not pay markups but I guess we will see.

The market is rapidly changing at least for the 1958. There is a ton of stock now and not many are selling. Discounts now are up to 8-9% without even trying! The premium model is still selling around MSRP tho.
