Here is another quote I received for the TRD Off-Road Gas vs Hybrid models.
When reviewing the pricing, I noticed several additional dealer added costs, including a Dealership Protection Plan and a Tint/Wheel Locks Package totaling $1,599. I asked the salesperson about this, pointing out that the vehicle already comes with factory privacy glass—so why is tint still being added?
The response I got was that the factory tint does not include the front two windows, which is what their tint package covers. That makes sense to a degree, but I'm still unsure if it justifies the cost.
I am a returning customer, I paid over $6,000 above MSRP in add-ons when I bought my 2021 RAV4 during the COVID market spike.
Also, this quote is based on me bringing my own financing from my bank, not using the dealership’s loan options.
Has anyone else been able to remove these types of add-ons or successfully negotiate them down?

Run for the hills man. Wheel locks are $119 (they came included on my TRD PRO) and I got the passenger side and driver side windows tinted with ceramic tint for $200.... Not sure what their fantastic "Fred Anderson Protection Plan" is worth, but I'm sure it is a rip off.

Thank you. I may sit for a bit on this one or go to the the nearest state.

I agree zero add-ons if you can get away with that! As for trading I always get my lowest price I can then add my trade, I know what the market value is as well as current auction pricing so trading is the only way to go since we get Tax help for the value of the trade. In my case I will be getting an additional $4200 in tax savings over trade/auction value totaling $71k which is $1k less than I paid new so it's a no brainer. I'm not financing paying cash but yes you need to go in knowing current rates for sure!
Just so people know you don’t need to trade your old car in at the time of your purchase to be eligible for a tax savings. In Delaware they have a form that you can mail in that will give you tax equivalent of your old vehicle sale. I always sell my old cars privately. I copy the new car sales agreement, the old car’s title and the Bill of Sale signed by the buyer and attach it to the DMV form. As long as the sale date is within 60 days before or after your new car purchase it all good. Your states DMV will process the paper work and mail you a check equivalent to the savings you would get from your dealership’s tax savings. It’s just easier to let your dealership buy your old car but trust me they will not give you what it’s worth. They will be making on average $4,000 off your car. Having your title when selling privately makes things much more simple. If you still owe money on your car than the selling it to your dealership is much easier.

This is highly dependent state-to-state. In OK, there is no tax advantage to trading vs. selling.
