Does anyone think that the proposed tariffs will increase the price of the incoming 4Runners? The idea of this has had me hesitant in waiting for the new 4Runner and instead going for the LC now. Has anyone heard anything about this?

I don’t think they will have an immediate impact on pricing. A lot of the tariff talk is a negotiation with other countries to get more favorable trade deals while encouraging manufacturers to bring manufacturing back to the US. I’m also looking to buy the new model next year and am going to roll the dice and wait. Hopefully I won’t regret that decision.

Yeah, I really hope it doesn’t take an immediate effect cause I want to wait for the 4Runner as well. I guess we will see what happens.

It "could" impact any vehicle made/assembled across our borders, but I think it is mostly a threat at this point. The main focus seems to be with China and Mexico so there might be a more likely chance that the Tacoma's could see an impact with the Mexico production. Time will tell!

Yeah I hope it is just a threat. I wasn’t sure if it would affect cars made in Japan as well, since there’s a threat on all foreign produced goods. Like you said, I guess time will tell.

I just posted this in another thread:

https://www.4runner6g.com/forum/threads/2026-4runner-price-cut-possible.1993/

Toyota just released 2025 Tacoma prices and there's negligible changes. Biggest change was actually a $165 drop for the TRD Pro. So this pricing could be an indication of Toyota's outlook on possible tariffs (that they don't think it will come or that they'll be affected by it, at least in 2025).

As for 2025MY 4Runner pricing, since those have been announced, I don't think we'd see a price increase before 2026 4Runner price announcement. It'd be rare to see them increase prices mid model-year

That’s great to know. Thank you for this info!! Hopefully Toyota is taking a preemptive approach.

You have to wonder about those Toyota factories here in the USA already. One would like to see some favorable actions on the part of the US Government because of this. They're also building the battery factory in North Carolina which will be creating more US Jobs.

Capitalism is gonna capitalism. If the tariffs go into effect in Canada and Mexico, which supply a significant percentage of US market vehicles, the prices of vehicles will go up across the board because every vehicle competes with every vehicle to a degree. They are all cars used to get people and stuff from A to B at the end of the day.

It won't be just a % tariff slapped on the vehicle on the window sticker. No one in their right might would buy a mid-range Tacoma at $75k just like those same midrange Tacomas currently have cash on the hood to move them at $50k. What people are willing to pay sets the actual transation price. The locally built vehicles will increase their prices a bit because the segment's biggest seller just got slapped with a tariff... similar to how we saw all car prices go up in COVID when the supply took a hit. But Toyota isn't going to just keep on pumping out Tacomas like they were pre-tariff; they're going to adapt through spec, volume, CKD, using their money to pressure politicians, etc.
