I just watched this review and she gave a thumbs down for the wireless charging. She said it overheated her phone if i understood her correctly? I haven't had time to watch more review. my manager expects me to do work during working hours. Rude.

I am wondering if anyone out there has heard similar feedback in any of the other reviews that were recently posted?

I hope not as this is one feature I was really excited about. My wife has a 2023 Honda Civic and lately, I keep losing connectivity to Android Auto. I've swapped out the cord a few times, same result, seems like the USB connection is loose. Perhaps I need to Google this topic to see if there is a known problem with the Honda Civic, but in the meantime, what's the word on this new Toyota wireless charging/connectivity?

I lurk on the 4th gen Tacoma forums and haven't seen phone overheating being a common issue, just a few owners here and there. Could be phone specific too.

Just searched up phone overheat wireless charging on Tacoma4g and this is only thread I came across where owners mentioned it -- only 2 owners said their phones overheat with the factory wireless charging mat.

Ok great. Really appreciate the response on this. I am not going to worry about this issue for now. Thanks

A lot can come down to the case on the phone too. A thicker case can trap more heat and also make charging more inefficient and that lost power becomes more heat.
I am kind of thinking that the lady that did the review lost a bit of credibility with me when she gave the thumbs down for that functionality. Probably just her case or the fact she was bouncing around off-road, or something else.

On two 6th gen test drives, my iPhone 16 with an Apple silicone mag safe compatible case would not charge on the pad. If I remove the case, it works fine. My wife’s case wasn’t an issue on her iPhone.

At home we have a few off brand wireless chargers and they work better than the Toyota unit with my case. Never had an issue before.

biggest problem with toyota wireless charging on BoF vehicles, the vehicle bounces the phone to much in the cradle to effectively keep it charging.

we just use a standard fast charger in the center console and use a cable to charge.

Is wired CarPlay supported from all front USB ports or only the side port on the screen?

no idea, we are a droid family and only use wireless android and barely at that.

the wife only uses spotify and google maps on the 23 tundra.

my 14 4R, unless i am on a trip from ND to GA to see my mom, the headunit is off, otherwise i use spotify via BT on trips.

I have only had mine for half a week, but have used the charging and find it works well. I don't have a case and use a three year old iPhone. The biggest issue is without a case, it will slide off the charging pad and stop charging.

There is a barrier which will stop it from going too far but it is in a location where it seems it is designed for phones with a certain size case around them. This means without a case, the rightmost few mm of the phone will be off the pad and it will then stop charging.

Toyota has some questionable design choices for a vehicle they know will be on rough roads. I'll probably just avoid using the factory wireless charger and put an aftermarket magsafe one in the same place to keep the phone in position.

I'm fine with it. I can always buy a case. I usually have one but mine fell apart after 3 years.

The Tacoma 3d printer options for mag safe adapter sitting in the same location look excellent. Options…

I find mine does get hot but not overheat. I also need to put something under it with the Iphone 15 Pro as the charging "zone" is above where it is on the phone if I done put something under it, I use a folded screen cleaning cloth and it works well and it doesn't slide around like others mentioned.
