Posting about this in the welcome thread got me curious what's everyone's top reasons for buying the 6th gen 4Runner and/or replacing your current vehicle? I'll share mine.

1 - big upgrade from old tech in my 2018 4Runner
2 - new hybrid engine
3 - new styling

Please post vehicle you’re replacing (if you are).

Hi Henry.
I currently have a 2018 TRD Off-Road.
My second vehicle is a Tesla. There is so much wonderful technology in the Tesla that when I get in the 4Runner it's a huge change. I want to pick up a 2025 4Runner in order to get closer to what the Tesla has.

For the hybrid mostly. And our 2010 SR5 is getting old. More oomph would be good.

What I'd really prefer is the 3rd gen body style with modern tech. The 4Runner has bulked up and I don't like it. Our 1997 SR5 was awesome, but it began to require too much maintenance. I get jealous when I see a 3rd gen on the road.

I currently have a 2007 4Runner Limited. I'm not getting rid of it....why would I? But, it's time for an upgrade. Getting a Platinum. I'm excited for all the new technology and just new everything. I'm not too worried about the 4 cylinder and all the other stuff the haters find to complain about. I think Toyota knows what it's doing with the 4Runner and hybrids.

I have a 21 Jeep Wrangler and a Lexus IS300. I’m going to replace the Jeep for a few reasons:

1. I want the safety features of the 4Runner. Current Jeep doesn’t have Rear Airbags and I have a small child.
2. The on road fell of the Jeep is awful. I’m not expecting the 4Runner to be the Lexus but it should be an improvement.
3. The reliability and quality of Toyota/Lexus is clutch. I love it.

I have a 1995 and 2004 F150 plus a 98 Ranger step side. These are all getting old and would like something more modern that I don't have to work on constantly. Desire a 4 door SUV type vehicle s with an area to store/stow gear. I rode all around the island in a friends 4 Runner while on assignment in Bahrain back in 2003-04. Really liked it too. Have no issues with owning a 4 banger because turbo will and battery hybrid will provide the "extra" when needed. To me the "look" does not say "Soccer Mom" vehicle. If it passes my a test drive, will get Platinum, Pro or Trail model.

We have a 2023 Honda Pilot Trailsport. We're 95% sure we're trading it for the new 4Runner. We love the Pilot, especially the 3rd row, but our favorite vehicle we've owned has always been a 2007 4Runner and always said we'd get a new one when it comes out. The 5% holding us back from trading is that the Pilot is paid off and we like not having a payment haha

Getting a 2025 4Runner Platinum. I have a 95 Jeep YJ for weekends. This will be my DD. Trading in 2021 4R Limited-Nightshade (Bought in 23). Before I had the Limited I had an Audi Q5 that I leased for work, after 2 years in the Limited I realized I'm really missing new tech, some torque, some punch, and even a little better gas mileage will make me happy (hybrid). and that new car smell & feel. I love new toys. I'll get pretty much what I paid for the 21 on trade. ( I stole it from my dealer! LOL)

I have a trail edition 2021 Tacoma and now find myself in a position where I drive across the country several times a year and want more creature comforts/safty. Also don't want to trade on trail performance. I have a Off Road Premium on reserve.

YJ owners unite!

I've got a 94.

As for why I'm buying a 6th gen?

I'm not sure I am. It's going to be $60,000 or more for an ORP. That's absurd and I'm not sure I'm going to pay it.

There's nothing wrong with my 2013 Tundra.

Your USD prices for the 4Runner's make me wish Canada was the 51st state! LOL. $60K = $83K or so in CDN

1999 4runner SR5 4x4 Manual
Hello there!
I've had this 99' 3rd gen 4x4 Manual as a DD since Aug of 2017. Love the thing and before that an 85' 4runner for 3 years, which replaced an 87' Pickup for a decade....
Needless to say as I'm getting grey myself, I think it's time to have some comfort and gadgets behind the wheel for the long trips and family affairs.
I've been putting of a 5th gen for a WHILE....so I think it will be worth the wait!

I am terrible at math, and logic too most of the time, but if the US dollar is equal to $1.44 Canadian dollars, well, 60,000 X 1.44 = 86,400 which is more than $83,000 so you are getting a good deal up there in frigid Canada, right? Disclaimer, I said was terrible at math and logic.
