The price, if we can swallow that crazy crap, spending 50k on a trd sport that still comes with cloth, manual seats, and a small screen is ridiculous.

Yeah the options may not be the cup of tea for everyone, but a bare bones trd sport at $50k is pretty shitty from Toyota. I'm not even asking wood paneling and ventilated seats with diamond stitching

Like gimme some soft tex seats that's power driver + a moon roof at least at 50k

And we got that 8.5k premium tech package Tacoma offers, so there's that to add next years line up.

I drove a Trailsport Passport while I was having the existential crisis that was me trying to decide what was going to replace my totaled Land Cruiser.

If you are looking for a boring SUV, that nobody will look at twice, the Passport is for you. It is so generic, inside and out, I just couldn't imagine anyone having a smile on their face while driving one. It is quick, I will give it that, but that is about that.

In the 8 days I've owned my 4Runner I've had probably 15 people ask me about it. Same with my Land Cruiser and my Gen 5 Pro before that. I couldn't imagine anyone even knowing what the Passport was, much less caring. So, if anonymity is what you are after, go buy a Honda, you won't regret it.

The interior looks just like my 23 Pilot Trailsport and I say the same...it's boring, and I don't have a smile on my face. I have had a fair amount of people look twice and comment on it though. The 4Runner, though, at least to me is miles above the others, and I don't even own one yet.

The 2023 bodystyle was bad ass. The new one sucks.

I was talking about a Pilot Trailsport not the Passport haha I don't hate the new look, but I gotta say I can't stand the "Passport" name being stamped into the front bumper.

I would never take one offroad other than easy fire-roads.

I'd never do rocks or anything gnarly but I've gotten the Pilot to some pretty fun places that most cars couldn't go. That being said I'm not taking it to offroad parks either haha

Yes, I can also take my grand mother's pink Cadillac on offroad trails, but it's not the right application for the job. (y) Honda sure kept this thread alive, but the Pilot or Passport aren't in the same leauge as the 4 Runner, but the Honda marketing team thought it was cute to position these vehicles as lower prices comparable options to the 4-Runner. I beg to differ.

I mean for hard-core off road yeah they're different....but 95% of 4runner owners never touch offroads so they're still a good sporty alternative that can have some fun on easier trails. I've owned a 2007 4Runner when I lived in Arizona and want another one, but for what I'll use it for either works.

In that case, I'd go the Subaru route, but then the Honda wouldn't seem like a lost cost option. You could also compare to a Porche and justify the Honda as being a cheaper alternative.
