Nice. Love Heritage Blue, wish it was available for the Trailhunter. Any mods planned?
It was my last color choice, but getting my hands on one was the most important, and this is the one color I could get quickly. its grown on me. Yes, it will be a Full build, taking it to overland shows and Sema

Are you with a shop or will getting sponsored from different brands? Care to post up a build journal thread to document your progress? Those of us with months to go until delivery can live vicariously through your build while we wait for ours to arrive ⏳

which is pretty much all the apps you have installed on your phone, not including the data the phone tracks to send to your service provider and either apple or google.

so its a mute point in the grand scheme of things. if you dont like that, you probably shouldnt have a cell phone

lol :)

Just curious why folk are using gas with octane ratings higher than 87? This is lne of the selling points on the new 4runner.

If you are using 89, 91 or 93, please share why and what differences you are seeing?

really each person preference. but the old days 87 didnt have ethanol, now anything below 91 has ethanol which isnt really the best for long term.

but you retard timing by a lot using 87 with ethanol so you dont get pre detonation vs higher octanes.

i think i saw somewhere using 87 with ethanol you retard timing by -14 to prevent pre detonation on the tundra.

here is what i found on the tundra forum

This guy knows more about the tundra engine than the Toyota engineers. He has also done the tests to back up what he says.

Do Ineed to run Premium Fuel?
As we have reported with every truck we have tested on, 4.6L, 4.7L, 5.7L, all run best on 91+ octane whether they are completely stock with stock tune, or tuned. These engines pull 8-12 degrees of timing due to knock retard on 87 oct, 6-10 deg on 89oct, 2-6 deg on 91oct, and 0-2deg on 93oct. That is on a completely stock truck with factory tune. If you care about the engine in your $35,000-$65,000 truck as you think you do, you wont run anything but premium in it weather you are tuned or not tuned.

I keep my small engines, chainsaws, blowers, ect. Free of ethanol. I also do not use fuel that is stored for more than six weeks. I run all engines and carbs dry too. That process has resulted in trouble free tools.

Now, for vehicles, I am less concerned. Fuel injection, modern Tier 1 gas with its detergents.

I have a Ford Escape Titanium with the twin turbo DI engine. Got it in 2”14 new. I was told on the forums at that time that it really needs 91 or higher. Some said, it can run on 87 but with less gas mileage so you may as well run premium. I ran premium (91) for over 9 years. Then, looking at Fords recommended fuel, I switched to regular. No performance change and my mpg over 6 months was 2-3mpg better.

I keep cars and trucks for over 10 years so am interested in strategies to keep the engine healthy. My 4Runner will be used 95% on road and the other might be a few dirt roads or easy trails. I quit hard core off road when I sold my Jeep Wrangler.

Not wanting to hijack this thread but those are my thoughts.
