It's the little things that make your life easier, and this is one of them. If you're ever under you hood or like your oil changer, these days make is it much nicer, and safer. The stock prop rod is so cheap. Of all the ways to save a dollar.

Anyways glad Redline has a great hood struts kit, super simple to install. Remove the hood bolt, install it back with the upper bracketed attached. On the body side there is already a threaded hole on the passenger side. On the driver side you use one of 4th abs module bolts to secure the lower bracket, pop on the struts and you're done. 15 minutes install.

pros/cons for gas struts.

dont have to waste time placing a hood prop
long term they may fail and the hood falls on your head.

if you oil change yourself the gas struts are nice
me, im lucky if i open it once a quarter

I’m probably gonna get struts for my hood as well at some point.

I open my hood weekly. I guess it is the difference between someone who maintains/pays attention to their vehicle and someone who relies on someone else to discover a major problem on something they paid $50k+ for?

I open my hood at least weekly. I don't have any problem at all with using the prop rod. To each his own I guess.

I do. I also check the tires. This is all part of maintaining a vehicle and being a responsible driver. Relying on warning lights isnt a good idea.
